I found out a couple of days ago that Gracie would be hitting the streets again. We are in the process of repairing her and she should be hood ready in a couple of days! I’m excited. No more driving a go-cart.
(That guy who always wanted to drive was kinda freakin’ me out too.)

As I flipped through the latest edition of Voice of the Martyrs (VOM) magazine, I noticed a video link that brought to life the story that was being told on paper. Today, watching this video was too much. I cannot be ok with my 30 minute, 3-chapters a day plan when my brothers and sisters around the world are actually dying to spread and help their countrymen understand one word of the God-given text we refer to as the Bible. As with many things, our understanding on a specific subject limits our ability to appreciate and properly respond to it and so it is with the Bible. But there is but one question. Do you and I genuinely believe it is God’s word for us today? If we do, then why are we not feasting on it? If we don’t, what have we let get in the way? Other “good” books? The idea that it may not neccessarily be relevant anymore? That it is actually “uncool”…and that bothers us? When we begin to believe that the very Word is our source of life and it holds the power to sustain our hearts, we will feast. When we stop allowing our hearts to be filled with other “good” things and search for the BEST thing, we will find it in Scripture and we will not depart from it.

FUN FACTS ABOUT INAUGURATIONS PAST :
- George Washington’s inauguration was held in New York City on April 30, 1789.
- Inauguration Day was changed to January 20, from March 4, in 1933 by the passage of the Twentieth Amendment to the US Constitution.
- Bill Clinton’s, January 20, 1997, inauguration was the first inauguration to be broadcast live over Internet.
- George Washington gave the shortest inaugural address in history. (135 words)
- In 1865, Abraham Lincoln was the first president to include African-Americans in his inaugural parade.
- In 1917, Woodrow Wilson was the first president to include women in his inaugural parade.
- When January 20 is on a Sunday, the president-elect usually takes the oath of office privately and then repeats the ceremony in public on Monday.
And here is our leader:
Barack Obama

Born and raised in Hawaii (spent a few years in Indonesia). His college years began well as he studied at Columbia University in New York. He then went on to volunteer in a church-based social action group in Chicago whose projects included: improving living conditions and battling unemployment. His political years are scattered but well spent, working on many different fronts to improve the lives of the underprivileged. First African American to serve as President of the Harvard Law Review; also 3rd African American to serve in the US Senate since the Reconstruction. We have much to be in anticipation over in this new term. If Barack Obama’s humanitarian ways truly stay with him when he is inaugurated, we may see significant change. My fear is that there is a lot of talk and little action…but what do I know? I’m just a 20-something, single, white, female waitin on the world to change.

Yesterday at 7:42am, Gracie was taken from me. She now is in life-threatening condition in the hands of Smitty’s Auto downtown. She is a 20 – something just like the rest of us and I’m sad that her life is hiccuping already… Toyota MR2’s always get the last dance and I’m not sure about Gracie’s health at this point. I am hoping that I will get a call today regarding repairs and surgeries that may need to take place…until then…I am carless. AND freedom-less.
